National Park Service has leveraged Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) funding to create the Great Lakes Early Detection Network (GLEDN). The GLEDN is a mapping tool designed to allow users to monitor the presence and spread of invasive plants and animals and alert others to their detection from an online account or from a smart phone application. With the GLEDN, managers and citizen scientist can easily plot the area, density, and variety of invasive species they encounter in the field, and update this data in real time.
