Wisconsin Sea Grant is a statewide program of basic and applied research, education, and outreach and technology transfer dedicated to the stewardship and sustainable use of the nation's Great Lakes and ocean resources.
Headquartered at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the institute is housed in the Graduate School Aquatic Sciences Center. WSG is part of a national network of 33 university-based programs funded through the National Sea Grant College Program, NOAA, U.S. Department of Commerce.
WSG supports scientific research, education and outreach to develop the wise use, conservation and sustainable development of Great Lakes and coastal resources. The Institute provides unbiased science-based information to Great Lakes coastal residents, resource managers and other stakeholders. Intended audiences include specific stakeholders and agencies, state and federal officials, the general public, the UW community and the National Sea Grant Program.
WSG supports research projects directed by faculty members, or individuals having principal investigator status, from the University of Wisconsin System or from another Wisconsin college or university who are seeking funding.
Wisconsin Sea Grant's Aquatic Sciences Chronicle, formerly known as the Littoral Drift Newsletter, is a good resource for those who are interested in learning more about the institute's ongoing programs and activities.
